To start, December is usually a busy month, but this one hasn't seemed so bad. I know it's been more hectic than usual in reality, though.
Well, football season is wrapped up for a little bit, and it looks like the South Carolina Gamecocks are ranked 9th in the country overall, and will be going to play in the Capital One Bowl in Florida come New Years Day. Highest bowl selection in school history. That makes for pretty good news. When you take into consideration the fact that we did half the season without our star player, and that we changed quarterbacks just before that, we did great, and next year promises to be fantastic.
Here's some fun news, for me at least. I'm going to have a better Monday than most anyone else, I'm sure of that. That would be because, in the afternoon, I'll be strapping myself into the cockpit of an F/A-18 Hornet, and taking her up for a little while. The bird is on stopover near here, and I was fortunate enough to get the chance to take her up. That's about the best way I can imagine beating Monday fever.
Let's see, what all else... it occurred to me the other day how surprising it was just how much my personal style has changed in the past two years. I'm not a fashion whore, to be sure- actually it surprises me just how dumb some of the 'in' stuff looks at the moment. (Really even more surprising is that I see the styles that were trendy when I was little coming back in... not all of which are good!) I have to actually take a moment and bring up an ex, much as I hate to. Three years ago, give or take, I was dating Rebecca. She very much was into fashion and all that mess, which I didn't worry about too much at the time. Suffice to say, that difference didn't always make for smooth sailing.
She used to push things she thought I ought to change. Not all of them were bad ideas, I admit- I know that I resisted (granted it wasn't consciously) because she pushed them, rather than suggesting them or mentioning and supporting them. So I have to say with some reluctance, years after the fact, that a lot of the brands and styles she probably would have appreciated, make up my day-to-day. She'd probably be surprised by most things about me these days. Anyway, don't think that I'm saying that she influenced most of my choices, I just mention it for the sake of perspective on how stuff changes. My style is nice, conservative, classy. It's nice to get so many compliments.
What all else is going on... I've updated my wine inventory after putting it off for too long. Some stuff gone, but I've restocked most of what we've drank our way through.
Well, loyal R&C, I'm gonna hit the sack, early as it is. Gotta be up and pack my flight bag early. I leave you with this: remember, Christmas is only three weeks away. Hopefully it will be a good one. At the rate time seems to be going by, Christmas will seem to be in, oh, 3 or 4 days!
