Accomplishment

Today I acknowledge my becoming a full and true sommelier. I mark this moment not based on some test (been there, done that part), nor the fact that my pairings have won acclaim. No, I mark it by this: I had a friend text me tonight to tell me she wasn't feeling well, after only one glass of 'pink chard.' (No comments on the phrasing, I knew what she was talking about.) My first thought wasn't 'hope you feel better' or 'did you drink or eat anything else'... no. It was 'why were you drinking a rosé this time of year?'
