A Few Day's Worth

Days like a few days ago are what makes the rest seem okay... finally caught up with Jann, which always elevates my thinking, a few good project updates, free time, laughs with friends, and more. Even found out, to my surprise, that one of my favorite wines, Martín Códax Albariño, is now carried at Costco, of all places! It's the little things, lol. Catching up on Suits and Burn Notice, unexpectedly getting a girl's phone number while out shopping, it's all good.

I finally broke down and applied to take the LSAT in October. I spend enough time dealing with legal matters for friends, I may as well put the talents to use.

Had big wine dinner yesterday, sponsored by E&J Gallo (yes, they have some really good wines if you know their full portfolio.) It was a blast, especially with some of the little things we added. My favorite part of it, humor and conversation-wise, though, was at the end we served a shooter made out of Boone's Farm Strawberry.

Oh, the stories that were shared, and the stories that probably shouldn't have been! I think one of the guests summed it up pretty clearly when, during dessert while drinking the Boone's Farm, raised his glass and said "I wonder how many girls have taken their pants off to this...?" Gotta love it.

Of course, I ended up turning around and bringing home two new cases of wine. I'm gonna have to get another rack, I'm afraid. The first one and the vinotemp are both already overflowing. But hey, I'm all set for guests!

Random thought: I was watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade the other day, and at the beginning is a scene where he, as a young man, runs out of a cave and yells, looking for his scout leader, or anybody. When nobody replies, he utters a line that sounds exactly like my reaction would be: "Anybody?? Ugh, everybody's lost but me!"

News: I've decided to give a very few people permission to write in this blog at their discretion in the future... should add a little something extra around here. Jann is definitely going to contribute, as he's got some great rants and monologues of his own, and also seeing as he and I see eye to eye most often. Be on the lookout for his input! Likewise, my friend Mari has been invited to join in , thanks to her great perspectives and thoughts. Should add a different level and a very unique perspective to things.

Random thought from earlier: It's amazing how little honor there is between people these days... and considering how much there was just as recent as the Civil War, that's a great pity. I always liked to think that it lived on a little longer in the Old South, as it was such a big part of life, but it's almost entirely long gone, even here. I tend to hold on to my honor, or try to, at least. While I've made some mistakes and inadvertently hurt some people, I believe it's an invaluable trait to maintain.

Speaking of mistakes we make, Jann brought up a good point on Facebook just the other day. He made this post (plus props on choosing Phantom to express the ideas so well, if you know the story): Surfing the net and I found this video of one of my favorite songs in the movie. I like it because it’s passionate and full of emotion. I also like it because, just as in the story, there is no point of no return. We can always realize our mistakes and turn back.

I hope he elaborates on the point, but I hope he's right. I hope there's always the chance to turn back and fix what may have once been broken, if it's meant to be.

Good night, loyal R&C. Hope life's treating most of you kind this summer.
