Phew! What a day, what a night! I'm just getting in from celebrating a good day, and rightly so. I got my GMAT scores back, and with the news of acing that test, I am officially accepted to every single last graduate program I wanted to get in to. On top of that, I have offers from some awfully good schools I hadn't even considered applying to! Hard to beat that for a good start to the day, especially when you consider that I took the damned test with a headache. Oh, what fun! No worries, though, advil and alcohol took care of the headache... never knew that worked!
I'm about $220 worth of wine to the wind right now (thank you, Far Niente, for starting the evening!), so I'm feeling pretty open. And that's to say nothing of the rest of the stuff! Sharing good spirits and good stories with the guys and girls makes for a great time celebrating good news. Plus about halfway through we had Supergirl (nickname) chucking my bottle of 1800 Silver over her shoulder on accident while trying to make a statement, and that was awesome for a laugh! What a crazy time tonight, I must say.
I feel overly loquacious tonight, but I'm behaving myself. I've said too much in here as it is! Tonight has been pretty much celebration and jokes up one side and down the other, and so much the better. Laughter is a great mediator, and helps to clear the soul! Plus hearing any guy, drunk, claim to be hung like a dragonfly? Priceless!
Oh, just for an update, I finally got all my settings right and imported my contacts list, sooo.... if you're getting an e-mail about this for the first time (and yes, Jann, I'm sorry this is coming to your phone address!) that's why. I hope you enjoy the updates, otherwise let me know, and I'll drop you off the list. Or something. If you're on it... well, with few exceptions I have no idea who all was imported. Top 10 or some such stuff. God bless automatic programing!
Random thought: I had the inspiration last night for another new novel series, this one being more dark drama and theology than the adventure or horror of the others. I'm excited about the concept, the only trouble is that I have to finished editing the first of the adventure series and finish up writing the first of the horror series before I can even dive into this new concept! Ugh, the stresses of finally having the muse on my shoulder again. A blessing and a curse. Tag line for the new series? "To find true love, to hold it all... would you face the darkness?"
Best toast for the night? "Here's to seventeen years!" (Long and inappropriate story, trust me.)
So, um, yeah... I got hit on tonight. It was a lot of fun, but kinda peculiar to watch happen. I mean, I'm flattered, but damn! This was about as subtle as being hit in the head with a hockey puck. Nonetheless, she was hot, so we'll put it in the 'plus' column. Darn it, me and my romantic heart, keeping me from any such musings. I may want to find the right person, but, like most reasonable guys, we'll all look at the menu. Like I said before- 'the day we stop looking is the day we die.' Thank you, Al Pacino.
(Speaking of Al, what the hell is up with Gary Coleman and Dennis Hopper both dying within 24 hours?? I mean, Gary Coleman was pretty young, and Dennis Hopper was the f-ing man! I mean, he played a mean psycho antagonist, to say the least. Rest their souls.)
Moving back to current events, I've also had a number of odd compliments from folks as of late... I've been told I have "the most beautiful, Southern voice" and yet I've also been told I have "the perfect voice for (stand-up) comedy." Both are compliments, and I appreciate it, but they seem somewhat, uh, contradictory, don't they? I've also been told what a great parent I would make, what a great friend I am, and more. Sheesh, I need to be more of an asshole or my credentials are going to be revoked.
Random thoughts: I saw a box of (I'm not kidding) "Morton Coarse Kosher Salt"... and it had the Star of David printed on it at the bottom, no less! I'm not sure why, but this sort of blew my mind. I took a picture just for kicks, I'll try to post it here tomorrow or the next day. Or whenever I remember to. Just like trying to remember to get my clothes back from the country club. (oops.)
Let's see, let's see... what else is on my mind. Well, not much for the moment, just still feeling celebratory for the good news from earlier today! Er, make that yesterday. But it's nearly half past 4 in the morning now, so I guess that makes it officially time for bed. I'll leave the choices for grad school and work for the coming week. Goodnight, loyal readers and creepers!
