Bigger Update

At last, back to the keyboard! Something about philosophy, winning, and staring down the barrel of a great career that makes me feel kindly. I'm considering wiping the slate of some of those on my bad side. The ones I've at least liked at some point along the way. Not sure yet. We'll see.

Speak of that philosophy, I think I've come across a perspective that may actually be something never before encountered. And it may explain a lot. Who knows, once I get it ironed out, maybe some day I'll be hailed as solving some of the longest running question in history. Or burned as a heretic. Or, more likely, both.

Other news... my friend Phil has come down to visit the past couple of days, somewhat unexpectedly, from Illinois. Catching up has been fun, as has discussing law school possibilities and options, and legal cases.

Random thought: there are few more annoying things when you have to shop somewhere, no matter how nice, and the damned sales people descend like vultures. I'm sorry, but that's the best way to get me to never, ever buy anything from you. Ever.

Random and ridiculous thought: I wonder how much, as a lawyer, it would cost me to hire the women who play Rachel (the paralegal) and the Donna (the secretary) in Suits and have them trained to actually be a paralegal and a secretary...

Some of the comedy I've run into lately makes me appreciate certain things from my past, and laugh at others. I guess that's the best kind of humor! It's hard not to go into some intimate details on here at times, guess I might one day, if the right joke crosses my mind. Or if I just feel froggy.

Speak of all of the above, I'm sorry, random people: I'm neither cocky nor arrogant, though I joke about being both at times. I'm confident. And I'm confident for really good reasons. I'm very good at the things I do. And I'm even damned better at the ones I don't talk about publicly.

I may or may not get time to go into this more later today, but I'm a little in awe of the fact that in a few hours I start my thirtieth year. My 29th birthday, today, on Thanksgiving. Feels weird, somehow. Changes perspectives.

Finally, to get some of the funner stuff, last Friday was Karo's show at The Comedy Zone in Charlotte, at the NC Music Factory. Absolutely hilarious show, as always, even better I'd say than his tour last year that was on Comedy Central. Afterward was partying out in Charlotte with Karo and some of the folks from the show. The show ended at 9:30, and the fun times started shortly after that. At some point half the people called a cab, while Karo and two girls rode with me to the next bar, which we closed down. After that, it was over to a townhouse, people were drunk, it became a slight mad house, but doesn't that make for the best times?

Karo and I got into an argument with the girls over whether or not there was a University of Pennsylvania (Karo's alma mater) and, once we convinced them there is, the next step was trying to explain that it's an Ivy League school. The argument turned to style, the differences in how southerners, especially southern girls, act compared to east coast and west coast girls. I tried to avoid throwing in the addition of the girls from the north in the middle of the country, and how much they apparently differ from east/west coast girls (compliments to you, Amanda!) and stuff like that.

Eventually, Karo told one of them off in a drunken haze and passed out on the couch for a bit, before waking up later, partly covered in fritos, in the middle of a conversation about the book "And the Band Played On." To his credit, he woke up and jumped right in with a few comments on the movie version. Eventually the night wrapped up sometime just before 4am. And for the shortest version of the story, here's the pic from around 3:30am - or 'the after picture' if you prefer. I don't even remember taking it. Priceless.

Well, have a good night, loyal R&C- it's nice to see how many folks have been reading lately. Sorry for the extra long post, I'll try to keep it more frequent, but briefer.
