It occurs to me why I'm frustrated with most of what's on the radio these days... that is, almost no so-called 'artists' actually perform. I turn on the radio and I'd say that 80-90% of the 'songs' that come on are broken down as follows: about 20 seconds of reasonably catchy music, then another 10-20 seconds of some unknown (who can actually sing) signing along. Then, however, you're treated to a long string of the 'artist' talking (or rapping or whatever the hell they want to call it these days) over a thumping back beat. That's right, talking!
I'm sorry, people, but being able to talk in something remotely resembling a rhyme doesn't make you a musician, I don't give two shits about how many records you sell.
It's not hard to put together... the bands and artists I like are the few who actually perform music. Even moreso, nothing pisses me off more (musically, at least) than hearing something that sounds like it will be a good song, only to suddenly have it be screwed up all of a sudden by some no-talent yammering on no differently than they probably talk every day.
Moral of the story: please, if you can't sing, don't pretend you can by talking during a song and annoying the rest of humanity. Instead, do something productive, like running off the end of the Earth and catching on fire. (Props to Jon for that timeless quote!)
