Gamecock Victory

It's a great thing to have the know-how to handle your own car's brake work. Beyond the fact that it saves a whole hell of a lot of money, there is something superbly satisfying about poking around, getting your hands dirty and doing the work yourself. Of course, then you get to spend time beating yourself up with GoJo to clean up. Ah, I've missed getting to do stuff in the garage!

What is more satisfying than that, though? Coming back from doing your own brake work to get to watch the South Carolina Gamecocks hit the field at Williams-Brice Stadium and cause the biggest upset in the school's history, trouncing Alabama's much praised 'unbeatable' team up and down the field. Gamecocks beat Alabama by two touchdowns, and it wasn't even really close. They broke so many streaks the Crimson Tide had been carrying that I lost track.

The result? Predictably, Columbia went apeshit. It's a great thing, though... finally people are starting to get it. This is what the head ball coach does: he takes the time to build the team he wants, and when he hits that critical set of players he's been fighting for, they become an absolute force of nature. I can't wait to talk to the folks that kept telling me that Alabama would crush my Gamecocks.

Anyway... in other news, things are just really, really damned busy. Despite the insurmountable schedule, there are moments that make it worthwhile. I love to see the faces of the people I teach when that light blinks on, when it finally crossed the barrier and they understand it all. Even so, though, I need a vacation. Muchly.
