Another few days survived! Strange, though, that everyone I ran into today thought that it was Friday. It was like a really boring episode of The Twilight Zone. But, even though it's only Thursday, if I can make it through the scheduling gauntlet that is the next few days I'll be relaxing comfortably in south Florida for a little while. I absolutely cannot wait.
Random thoughts, it's been a while!
Why, oh why, can't I for the life of me convince people that, no matter how deep the punt on the bottle of wine, it still contains the full 750ml? They all think it's some kind of conspiracy to short you when you buy a good wine. Yeah, because the importer or winery is going to risk a false advertising suit so they can save that 3ml. I'd love to find some logic there, but it strikes me as something the Dunning-Kruger effect would more aptly explain. Nevertheless, I keep trying.
Come to think of it, the same thing goes for all the people (including on game shows, for crying out loud!) who try to press the idea that there is such a thing as California Champagne.
Is it a bad thing when you realize that there is an undergrad English professor who doesn't understand how words work?
Minor train of thought derailment! I found this hilarious for some reason- my building was testing the fire alarms this morning. It turns out that the fire alarm here is less of an alarm, and more of an announcement. It's a repeating message with a rather pleasant, and notably bored sounding, female literally asking everyone to vacate the building. Of course, it might have been more funny, or more sensible, if they hadn't been testing it over, and over, and over at 8am. When I didn't even get home from work until past 3am.
Last random thought on my mind, I actually had a professor show a Foamy the Squirrel video to our class during break. I was impressed, especially considering he tied it into the subject at hand. Made me dredge up some of my favorite clips, though. Take a look at the Foamy- Zip Codes rant for a good laugh. Now, for those of you on this side of the planet, go sleep well. For those of you on the other, have a great morning/afternoon. And quit stressing. It is actually Friday now.
