Random Thoughts for the Day...

Today is going to be pretty much a list or random musings and observations I've had as of late.

-Losing weight is awesome, I grant that. Feels good to be getting back to looking like my old self... but nothing fits me anymore, not even the stuff that fit a few weeks ago. Further downside? Having to spend money on wardrobe items that will not fit me a few weeks from now. So much for the 'rewarding' part.

-Today I read the best description of the thought process behind the development of the Wii: "Fuck it... you want simple? Fine, how about two sticks you wave at the screen, assholes."

-I saw a truck yesterday that had had its emblems removed and replaced with 'Tonka' emblems. I'm not sure if this is awesome or sucks yet. Granted, I know it doesn't suck like the 'modded' (note: term used loosely in most cases) imports, but still not sure. In any case, it's not as cool as my friend's race car that has the "Powered by Briggs & Stratton" emblems. Kick-ass.

-Being an alumnus is an odd feeling. I still remember classes and tests that I stressed over, but then comes that moment of 'that's over!' Which is awesome. Which is inevitably followed by 'you're probably about to move on to grad work, which is harder.' Which is depressing.

-"Verb" is a noun. Is it just me, or is that screwed up?

-Today I got one of those "certificate of immunization" forms from one of the grad schools that's offering. You know the ones, you've had to have them filled out many times before, I'm sure. they used to be simple, though... MMR. That was it. Now it's got everything from MMR on through tetanus, meningitis, hell, I'm surprised Hantavirus isn't included. When it comes to grad schools, I'm tempted to go back to College of Charleston just so I don't have to fill this damned thing out.

-I heard from my lawyer today that we got a letter from a company I'm suing claiming they did nothing wrong. Which would be fine, if just a few months ago they hadn't sent us a letter admitting wrongdoing and apologizing. Forget settling, I just want to see the judge's face when he see's this.

-I've heard from two people now who get the e-mail updates for this blog. I still don't know who's addresses got imported. It's kind of cool, though, like a game. A weird combination of 'Where's Waldo" and, hell, I don't know, "loopt." Or something. Do I know you? Apparently!

-On that note, I have one person actually following this blog, but something like another fifteen or so who have mentioned it, or a post from it, to me. Plus God knows how many anonyreaders and creepers. Really, people? Man up and follow!

-I hate going to the FedEx and UPS websites. Why? I have to click through to select my continent, then my country, etc etc. C'mon, folks; every one of those cheap banner ads can do an IP locate and give you local specials; your multi-million dollar websites can't even detect which country the person is in?

-I have a guitar, but I can't play the guitar, so I have no idea what to do with it. So far, it makes my living room look nice... oh, and I pick at it when I'm depressed. On the flip side of that, I don't have a trumpet, an instrument I play professionally, here at the moment. Note to self: WTF?

-A friend today told me I have moments of 'unabashed honesty' in this blog (see: Express Yourself); to which I replied I haven't hit total unabashed honesty just yet, but I might soon. There's stuff I need to say, though probably not publicly. Being piped-down is being bad for my health- literally.

-I'm still feeling down; don't think I'm peppy just because I can be funny. I believe I could crack a joke at the gates of Hell. (Probably something about how it really is true that it's hotter in the South.) I've got a lot on my mind about a very few specific things (and people), and only know one way to fix it as of yet. I'm trying to find an alternative to that, and hopefully one will present itself.

-I abuse... I mean abuse the Music ID app on my iPhone. I don't have a choice, though, nobody ever says the name of the song on the radio anymore! And half the names don't make any sense. It's like a conspiracy between the radio stations, the artists, and the people who, well, advertise on apps like mine.

-I find having a stalker is flattering, in a way. At least they're non-threatening.

-Facebook and Myspace both must have some sort of subliminal amnesia-inducing code in their messages. Anytime I get an e-mail or something that I've gotten a message, or someone wrote on my wall, or someone did something or whatever, I forget it within two minutes, and don't remember to reply for days.

Well, that's about it for levity for the night. I've got some paperwork to fill out, then it will be time to call it a night. Yes, early for me. Well, after I take a look at the 2009 Bordeaux report. Have a good evening, loyal ones!
